We encountered a car that had been left undisturbed in one place for a very long time. Decades. Had it been a cherished car once? Maybe even a collector’s item? The label on the car, at first glance, was Crevelle. Odd name for a car. No, Google says, Chevelle. Cheval? no Chevelle. Gazelle? No Chevelle. Chevrolet Chevelle. Ok now we know. But surely the designers could not have imagined the way the orange of the rust would mix with the blue paint, how lichen would grow on even on its windows, how the chrome on the hub caps would peel into sparkly chunks like bark. Crevelle might be the name after all. Crivelli? No Crevelle.
